Shipping Policy - Advanced Janitor Supply

United Parcel Service handles most of our orders. However, UPS will not deliver overly large or certain chemical products. Orders containing those products (indicated by a double red asterisk ( )) will be shipped by common carrier, and the additional charges will be applied to your order. Oversized products will incur additional UPS charges.

Please provide us with a physical shipping address. UPS will not deliver to a Post Office Box.

How are shipping charges calculated?
United Parcel Service sets their charges per weight and distance. Thus, a box which weighs 3 lbs. shipped from New Mexico to New Jersey incurs a charge of $6.65, regardless of the cost of the items in the box. However we do have a minimum shipping charge of $12.00 which covers processing labor. If the actual shipping charge exceeds $12.00, that is what will be added to your order.

Why can't you tell me what shipping costs will be when I place my order?
The service we use to process our internet orders does not have the capability to calculate shipping costs on the fly. We must physically weigh each order and match it with its destination to determine its actual shipping cost.

Can you tell me what my shipping charges will be in advance?
Yes, just ask. We'll figure it out for you before we process your order

Why are certain chemical items so expensive to ship?
Shipping companies are rightly wary of handling certain chemicals, and so charge extra to cover the cost of possible clean-up in the event of a spill. But in the end it's not the carrier itself which will be held responsible for spills - it's the shipper, which means we will be deemed the responsible party, even if the carrier bungled the job. So as a result, orders which include a hazardous material will incur a hazardous material charge in addition to the regular shipping charges.

What are oversized packages, and what are the extra charges for?
UPS considers packages to be oversize if their length plus girth exceeds a certain size in inches. Packages fitting this description are charged a minimum billable weight plus a surcharge, even if the actual weight is lower:
• If length plus girth is 84" to 108", billable weight is 30 lbs.
• If length plus girth is 109" to 130", billable weight is 70 lbs.
• If length plus girth is 131" to 165", billable weight is 90 lbs, and a "Large Package" surcharge of $40 is applied.

Why can't I use my post office box to receive a shipment?
We don't know; they won't tell us.
